Bears receiver Marty Booker noticed Peggy Kusinski's pregnant belly and could not resist. He rested his giant hands on her midsection and said: "C'mon, big boy."
"No, it's a girl," Kusinski replied.
Booker recoiled, as if suddenly realizing he should keep his hands to himself.
Kusinski, the WMAQ-Ch. 5 sports reporter, said she actually doesn't mind all the locker-room belly pats, calling them "endearing."
"It makes us all human," she said, adding that the White Sox trio of Brian Anderson, Toby Hall and Joe Crede have been particularly thoughtful in asking how she's feeling.
Kusinski's third child is due June 10. She plans to work up to that date because Wrigley Field and The Cell both put her in close proximity to the downtown hospital where her baby will be delivered. And if the unthinkable should occur ...
"At least I'd be surrounded by trainers and medical personnel," she said.
