Final day of work, first day of unemployment
My profile and blog have already been deleted from the Fox Chicago website. My email address of nancy.loo@foxtv.com is gone, too. I worked there for nine years. Since I'm quite familiar with web technology, I know it took just seconds to delete me.
I spent my final day cleaning out the rest of the stuff in my desk, including a lot of mail from prison inmates at Stateville.
Needless to say, I've been pretty stressed out this week. But as I shared details of my final day with my daughter, she responded with, "Does this mean you can pack my lunch for school tomorrow?" Of course, I can pack a lunch like nobody's business!
"Good, because today, all the girls were sitting at lunch with their mom-made lunches and there I was with just a lunch card," she lamented.
"Well, what's in a mom-made lunch?", I ask.
"Roast beef sandwiches and Oreos. Oh, and some get notes every day!"
I highly doubt that every girl had a roast beef sandwich and Oreos. But I've always packed lunches (with notes) whenever my schedule allowed. My schedule allows for it now.
