I very much enjoyed the Dick Biondi 50th show on WLS. Having grown up listening to him, since then I have found it interesting to hear and talk to others who also did in California. I’ve encountered one or two people who used to hang at the KRLA Pasadena back steps. One of them was a girl who eventually became an employee answereing phones during his program. She said he was the most amazingly accessible celebrity she’s ever even heard of. Each night there would be a coterie of a dozen or more kids on the steps, and Dick would be there for HOURS giving girlfriend/boyfriend advice, joking with them, and even helping some of them with homework (!) Such a nice guy like that who genuinely enjoys people, it’s no wonder when he called in chips he was able to have an all-star lineup calling in on his show and they for the most part seemed to be genuinely fond of him…
…except, who was that local WLS Citadel general manager he had on? He seemed to come off as a bit of a tool.
