I guess I'm one of the few who appreciates the focus and coverage. Since you think Fox was the only one "amping up" about the storms, let me paste you an article from the Chicago Tribune web site that will likely be on the front page tomorrow of the paper aswell.

Tornadoes reported in Cook, Will and Livingston counties
Tribune staff reports

7:25 PM CDT, June 7, 2008

A tornado has touched down in Cook County near Richton Park, and other touchdowns were reported in Will and Livingston counties.

A tornado warning for extreme southeastern Cook County has been canceled, the National Weather Service reported at 7 p.m.

The thunderstorm which prompted the warning has exited the area although a tornado watch remains in effect until 8 p.m. for northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.

In Will County, a section of Interstate Highway 57 has been shut down due to downed power lines and an overturned semi truck caused when a tornado crossed the roadway.

The closure is just north of the Manhattan/Monee Road interchange near milepost 336, said Lt. Jody Oseman with the Illinois State Police.

"It crossed from one side to the other," Oseman said of the tornado. "There are some vehicles that were damaged or crashed because of the storm."

The roadway was closed at about 6:30 p.m. and it's unclear when it will reopen. Officials are currently assessing the downed power lines to see if they are live and are checking power poles for structural damage to ensure more don't come down.

A tornado has touched down in Cook County near Richton Park and is moving northeast at about 26 miles an hour toward Chicago Heights and Lansing, the National Weather Service reported about 6:30 p.m. Initial reports indicate there have been structural damages, but no injuries have been reported.

The tornadoes are part of a severe weather system that has been moving through the area. It had spawned several tornadoes that touched down in Cook, Will and Livingston Counties.

Structural damages were been reported in Symerton near Old Chicago Road in Will County, though there have been no reports of injuries, according to the National Weather Service.

Unspecified damages have also been reported in Dwight in Livingston County.

The system remains active and is currently moving through southern Cook County.

Pat Barry, a spokesman with the Will County Sheriff's Department, said a tornado touched down near Wilmington and stayed on the ground for about 12 miles until it reached Green Garden Township near Monee, about 40 miles southwest of Chicago.

Several homes have been severely damaged, and numerous trees and elechicagomedia.orgical wires are down, Barry said.

"Fortunately that's mostly a rural area out there," Barry said, adding there have been reports of only minor injuries.

A tornado warning remains in effect until 7:30 p.m. for northern Lake and southeastern Cook Counties, according to the National Weather Service.
