107-5 WGCI-FM weekend personality, Al B. Sylk was named as the station's new Music Director, effective Monday, May 17th. Clear Channel Chicago's Director of Urban Programming & station Program Director Derrick Brown made the announcement late this afternoon.

Al B. Sylk, whose real name is Alex Worthey, is a Chicago native, and currently works on air at WGCI on Saturdays from 6:00pm-9:00pm and Sundays from 2:00pm-6:00pm. He joined WGCI as a part-timer in April 2009.

Sylk has worked in Houston, Pittsburgh, Norfolk/VA Beach, Philadelphia, Miami, and Orlando.

Derrick Brown said of Sylk: "Al is one of the most gifted individuals I've worked with. "He's virtually done it all and I'm excited about the creativity, focus and passion Al will bring to WGCI's programming team as Music Director."

Al B. Sylk replaces Kenard "K2" Karter, who starts Monday as the new Assistant Program Director/Music Director at KMEL-FM in San Fransisco, CA. Karter was also the MD of Chicago's WKSC-FM. No successor has yet been named for that position, which will be vacant as of next week.
