The Alliance for Women in Media (AWM) -- who three months ago changed their name from American Women in Radio and Television (AWRT) -- announced today the formation of the Chicago Chapter of the Alliance for Women in Media. The new Chicago chapter's mission is to further advance the impact of women in the media and media-related fields through educating, advocating, and acting as a resource to its members and the local industry.

The following Chicago media women were elected to serve as members of the 2010 Chicago Chapter of the Alliance for Women in Media Board of Directors:

Angela T. Ingram (President)
Vice President, Communications, Clear Channel Radio Chicago

Maria King (Vice President/President-Elect)
President, Medina Media Acquisitions, Inc.

Jennifer Herhold (Recording Secretary)
Account Executive, NAVTEQ Media Solutions

Nancy Reid (Treasurer)
Director, Great Plains Press

Alicia Haywood (Membership Chair)
Producer, "The Dr. Laura Berman Show", Oprah Radio

Ann Stengel (Programming Chair)
President, Stengel Communications

Saman Sheikh (Public Relations Chair)
Multimedia Producer, WYCC

"I am excited to kick-off the summer with a renewed and revitalized organization," said Angela T. Ingram, Chicago Chapter President of AWM. "A strong membership will be our number one goal. We want our efforts to reach as many people as possible in the Chicagoland area. As a board, we will make sure our members are gaining the resources they need and deserve from AWM."

The board will be hosting its inaugural event, "Renew & Revive: An Introduction to the Chicago Chapter of the Alliance for Women in Media," on Monday, June 21 from 5:30pm-7:30pm. The event will take place on the newly remodeled rooftop of Market, located at 1113 W. Randolph St. in Chicago.

The Chicago Chapter of AWM is extending an open invitation to professional women and men in local media and allied fields to join them. College students are also welcome to attend. To reserve a spot on the rooftop of Market for this event for a discounted price of $20, click below by Monday, June 14.
