WGN Radio's Chicago Cubs baseball announcer, Ron Santo will be honored by the Chicago Cubs organization today. The salute marks Santo's 50 years in baseball, starting from his playing days on up to his current radio position. Santo debuted as a professional baseball player on June 26, 1960. There will be a pre-game salute to Santo, who will then throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Numerous health issues have kept Santo out of the booth quite a bit lately and will limit his travel time with the team this year. This salute comes at a good time, as rumors say there is a strong chance he may not be with the broadcast team next year.
