Clear Channel Total Traffic has been dropped by pretty much every radio station in town, with the exception of its own cluster of radio stations.

Stations that dropped CC Traffic have all signed on with Westwood One's Metro Traffic. Perhaps the best news is that no personnel have lost any jobs because of this change. Metro has taken on all of the Clear Channel staffers that reported to the stations. Not only will these employees still have jobs, but the listening public will still hear the same voices they heard before. Only the source of the traffic information has changed.

The stations that made the change over to Metro Traffic on January 1st are Citadel's Chicago stations WLS-AM and WLS-FM, as well as Univision's Chicago cluster: WVIV-FM/WVIX-FM, WOJO-FM, WPPN-FM, and WRTO-AM. These stations will also be able to now use Metro Network's "Sigalert" online traffic monitoring tool on their websites.

The Citadel & Univision stations had previously used Clear Channel's Total Traffic for the last two years.

Among the stations that Shadow/Metro is now providing traffic & weather updates to includes all of the Chicago radio stations owned by CBS, Citadel, Univision, Emmis, and Salem, along with independents like WGN-AM and WLFM-LP.
