Leave it to Mike North to try to steal the thunder from his former employer.

In an audacious example of counter-programming, North will host his first -- and so far only -- Internet show from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m Friday via his Web site at northtonorth.com.

That's exactly the same two-hour time slot for the CBS Radio morning stars' roundtable on sports/talk WSCR-AM (670).

The Score's event, originating from Smith & Wollensky, will bring together Eddie Volkman, Joe Bohannon, Ramblin' Ray Stevens, Pat Cassidy, Lin Brehmer, Steve Dahl with Dan Bernstein. They're supposedly going to talk about sports.

North, who's been off the air since June 20 and lamented that he never got to say goodbye after more than 16 years on the Score, said his Webcast also will feature "two monster surprise guests."

His show will emanate from the north suburban studios of TalkZone Internet Talk Radio.

North also turns up with John Callaway on "Friday Night" at 7:30 Friday on Window to the World Communications' WTTW-Channel 11.
