You deserve a break, today: A New York Times report last week that said Fox-owned WFLD-Ch. 32 accepts product placement on its "Good Day, Chicago" morning news program was in error, according Channel 32 boss Pat Mullen.

"There's absolutely no product placement," he said.

The Times story focused on McDonald's paying to turn coffee drinks into props on a Fox station in Las Vegas. Mullen said there's no such deal at WFLD.

Channel 32, however, has had a weekly segment, "The Breakfast Buzz," sponsored by the fast-food giant. "Buzz" features the opinions of ordinary people solicited at area McDonald's outlets.
