Northwest Indiana public television is tuning into radio.

Lakeshore Public Television WYIN-Channel 56 has agreed to purchase WWLO-FM (89.1), a noncommercial outlet in Lowell, Ind., from the American Family Association for $1,050,000.

Television and radio studios will be combined in Merrillville, where Lakeshore is based.

"This station will be the voice of northwest Indiana," said Thomas E. Carroll, president and CEO. "It will include varied and relevant content that is unlike any other product offered by other local radio stations."
