WGN-TV AND joins Comcast SportsNet

Charlie Schumacher, assistant news director at Channel 9 since 2000, has been named senior news director at Comcast SportsNet Chicago, effective Monday.

He previously was an executive producer at Channel 32.

Jim Corno, president of Comcast SportsNet, called Schumacher "a well-respected, veteran newsroom leader in this city with a proven track record of success on numerous levels throughout his career."

He succeeds Joe Riley, who recently left to join the Golf Channel as senior director of news programming.
