Pat answers: Once the ink dries on Don and Roma Wade's WLS-AM 890 renewal, negotiated by agent-attorney Eliot Ephraim of Ephraim & Associates, it will be time to determine how to best employ WBBM-AM 780 import Pat Cassidy.

Cassidy has been working with newly signed Erich "Mancow" Muller in the 9-to-11 a.m. slot, but there also has been interest in having Cassidy join the Wades' 5-to-9 a.m. program.

"They're two big franchises, and maybe Pat could be part of both shows," station boss Mike Fowler said. "But I want to sit down and figure what the best strategy is, and a big part of that is where Pat wants to be."

Cassidy is open to continuing with Muller, with whom he is developing a rapport, so long as he is more or less an equal partner. Working with the Wades would have its own set of advantages. How he would straddle the two shows is uncertain.

"I want an opportunity to do some talk radio," Cassidy said. "That's why I signed up. And I want to be co-host."
