Dennis DePaola replaces Al Connor as WBBM-TV sales boss

WBBM-Ch. 2 has promoted Dennis DePaola from local sales manager to director of sales, replacing Al Connor, who is leaving the station.

CBS-owned WBBM also is eliminating the position of dircetor of communications, currently held by eight-year station veteran Elizabeth Abrams, effective the end of the year.

Some of Abrams' duties will be absorbed by Shawnelle Richie, Channel's 2's director of public affairs. Richie, who joined WBBM in 2003, is a former WVON-AM host and one-time assistant press secretary to Mayor Richard M. Daley and former mayors Eugene Sawyer and Harold Washington.

Connor, son of the late Chicago Bears Hall of Famer George Connor, was named Channel 2's vice president and director of sales almost three years ago. DePaola has been at WBBM since 2002.
