I find this disingenuous. Why not just say we are approved to upgrade 1590 and we have no reason to pay the power bill until we can do this.

BTW whenever I need to hear a colon clensing infomercial, I will now have to go to my tape archive. I can no longer just turn on 1580.

: WKKD Asks FCC For OK To Stay Dark For Now

: KOVAS COMMUNICATIONS' WKKD-A/AURORA, IL, which has gone dark and holds a construction permit to move to SILVIS, IL in the QUAD CITIES market, has applied to the FCC for Special Temporary Authority to keep the station dark.

: The application, filed JANUARY 12th, gives the reason for the request as "Financing" and informs the FCC that "The licensee cannot presently continue operation of the station due to the current economic environment. The licensee is nevertheless hopeful that it will be able to return to the air in the near future and thus is respectfully requesting that it be granted special temporary authority to remain silent pending an improvement in the economy."
