Described as "ruthless" and "conniving," the reporter will stop at nothing to get the scoop on the case of a man suspected of killing his wife.

At one point, she even shows up wearing nothing but a skimpy two-piece bathing suit.

While that scenario might evoke memories of a certain Chicago TV reporter who lost her job over such an incident, it's actually the plot of tonight's episode of NBC's "Law & Order."

Lara Flynn Boyle guest stars as the ambitious reporter "who uses her sexuality to try to break the case," according to a preview on the show's Web site.

Whether ripped from the headlines or purely coincidental, the odd similarity is no laughing matter to Amy Jacobson.

"I don't find any humor in this at all," said Jacobson, who was fired last July after more than 10 years as a reporter for NBC-owned WMAQ-Channel 5.

Jacobson's offense, you recall, was turning up in a bikini at the southwest suburban home of Craig Stebic, whose wife, Lisa, had been missing for months.

The reporter later explained that she was taking her two kids swimming on her day off when she got a call to come to Stebic's house for a poolside interview.

But when rival CBS-owned WBBM-Channel 2 shot video of the bikini-clad Jacobson over a neighbor's backyard fence, her goose was cooked. She's been out of work ever since.

Although some of her friends are planning a "Law & Order" viewing party tonight, Jacobson insists she won't be watching.

"It's just another reminder of the high price I had to pay for trying to do my job," she said. "Hollywood takes things like this out of context all the time."
