Squish! Since the February Arbitron radio ratings book came out Wednesday, the new, admittedly rather amusing nickname for news/talk WLS-AM (890) around the offices of parent Citadel Broadcasting is "Squish-AM," as in "we're squishing the competitor -- news/talk WGN-AM." In the February book, WLS was tied for ninth place in the Chicago market in the key 25- to 54-year-old demo from 6 a.m to midnight Monday through Sunday. WGN, which is still trying to decide who will fill the mid-afternoon slot vacated late last year by John Williams, could do no better than 21st place in the same demo and day parts. Citadel's oldies station, WLS-FM (94.7), is going gangbusters, too. In the February ratings book in the aforementioned day parts and demo, WLS-FM tied for sixth place in the market with country station WUSN-FM (99.5)

Meanwhile, all news WBBM-AM (780) barely eked out another first-place win in the February book over Bonneville's classic hits WDRV-FM (97.1), which lost out for the top spot by only one-10th of a ratings point Monday through Sunday among adults 25 to 54.
