Still hoping somebody with better connections like Miner or Rosenthal can get more details, but I do know that one long-time newspaper vet who was released today was Columnist & Editor, Bob Bong. 33 years in the paper biz and he gets shown the door with no regard to his experience or loyalty there. Shameful.

: I'm hearing about MORE layoffs (translation: budget-induced firings) at the Sun-Times News Group this afternoon. Some people from the suburban papers are being let loose today, including some veterans from the Daily Southtown/Southtown Star. Perhaps the Reader's Michael Miner or the Tribune's Phil Rosenthal can get more details soon. What a shame the industry has come to this.
