: Terry Glover named Ebony managing editor : Phil Rosenthal | Tribune Media : 6:10 PM CDT, May 1, 2009 : Terry Glover, senior online editor of EbonyJet.com, has been named managing editor of Ebony Magazine, Chicago-based Johnson Publishing Co. said today. : Ebony senior writer Adrienne Samuels Gibbs has been upped to senior editor and Margena A. Christian, who had been features editor of Johnson's Jet magazine, has assumed the title of senior writer at Ebony. : Mira Lowe last week was promoted to editor of Jet from managing editor. : The announcements come not long after Bryan Monroe resigned as Johnson's vice president and editor director of Ebony and Jet. Ebony managing editors Lynn Norment and Walter Leavy took early retirement and Sylvester Monroe resigned as Ebony senior editor. : Openings on the media company's Web site include senior vice president of publishing, Ebony editor-in-chief for Ebony, chief marketing officer and vice president of human resources and organizational strategy. : Anne Sempowski Ward, president and chief operating officer of Johnson Publishing, the world's largest African-American-owned publishing company, said Glover "has a strong journalistic commitment to take the brand forward" and "strengthen its position in the marketplace as a dynamic publication, which will help engage an even wider readership.? : Glover has more than 15 years of experience in the publishing industry and previously was managing editor at Savoy magazine, Chicago editor for Uptown magazine and digital editor for Playboy.com. She has an undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and a graduate degree from Roosevelt University.
