(as if we didn't all know this already)

The release of Arbitrends this week for the first phase of the summer quarter provided more ammunition in the war of words between Spanish-language radio stations and Arbitron Inc.

Leading the charge has been Jeff Shrinsky, vice president and general manager of Spanish Broadcasting System's regional Mexican WLEY-FM (107.9). When Arbitron's spring book showed shares for "La Ley" nearly cut in half, Shrinsky cried foul, charging that Hispanics were not measured adequately. Arbitron denied the claim.

Now that the latest Arbitrends show his listenership has more than doubled, Shrinsky is fuming: "The fact that a station could go from 7,900 AQH [average quarter-hour audience] one month to 17,100 the next with no significant changes substantially undermines Arbitron's credibility."
