WBBM traffic reporter tries his hand at game show

CHICAGO (WBBM) - The game show "Million Dollar Password" puts contestants on the spot by making them come up with the right word.

One of the contestants on Sunday night was used to saying the right thing for a living - with a lot of people listening. He's WBBM Traffic reporter Mike Pries.

Pries appeared on Sunday night's show, on CBS, an episode that was originally supposed to be broadcast several months ago but was delayed several times.

Pries says his girlfriend, who is now his fiancee, talked him into going to an open audition at the Chicago Hilton. He was then flown out to California and taped the show early in the morning after working late the night before and the whole thing was a "crazy whirlwind."

Pries says when you're in a booth on the radio, it's easy to shut out the fact that thousands of people are listening to you but, Pries says, when you're in a TV studio and hundreds of people are watching you under the bright lights, it's "a little more intimidating."

Pries says being on the show - which is hosted by Regis Philbin - was a "great time" and he would love to do it again. His advice for anyone who has a chance to try out for a game show? "Give it a shot, because you never know."
