From the late 60's through the mid 70's, the Chicago King of Children's TV was Bill Jackson. His extremely popular shows, "Cartoon Town," "BJ & Dirty Dragon" and "Gigglesnort Hotel" were some of the most imaginative and fun family programs in the country. Some of my fondest childhood TV memories are of his "Dirty Dragon" show.

Bill Jackson himself has put together a new DVD documentary all about these classic shows of his. Jackson was able to piece together a great deal of rare footage of the shows, along with his own thoughts & memories of the making of the shows, for this new documentary called "Remembering 'Cartoon Town' and 'BJ & Dirty Dragon'". The footage has been remastered as much as possible. The only casualty was with the themes & music. Just like what happened with the recent WKRP DVD release, where record label fees for using the music are so extreme that they had to change almost all of the music on the DVD, Bill Jackson had to do pretty much the same. So the music has been somewhat altered, but the fun remains. You can order the DVD for $30 directly from Bill Jackson's company and get more information about the DVD at http://www.dirtydragon.com/remembering.htm.

Speaking of his website, it has been recently upgraded and contains lots of happy flashbacks to his classic Chicago TV shows. You can check out his entire website at http://www.dirtydragon.com/.
