: : WMAQ-Ch. 5 picks Rob Stafford to be Allison Rosati's co-anchor

: L-A-M-E. This guy is a sleeper. He brings "just enough" to the table. No offense really, but he just doesn't have the pop to be a lead anchor in market 3.

I'm happy for Rob, but I honestly don't see this move as being the type that will perk up Channel 5's ratings battle-if you want to call it that-with Channel 7. I thought his work on Dateline was solid because he is a solid reporter. As an anchor he comes across as just a reader. There is no personality in his news delivery. Frankly, I think the viewership on the weekends for Ch. 5 was due more because of the newly departed Anna Davlantes.

I think his strength is on the street covering the news, but if this is what he really wants to do then good for him. From a business standpoint, I don't understand the move nor do I think this is really what will give them a bump that they are looking for in the ratings.
