"WBEZ Geek Out": Make-Your-Own-Radio Trainings at Chicago Public Radio and Vocalo.org Mixer

08.25.2009 -- What: Vocalo.org and Chicago Public Radio invite their listeners to a mixer on August 26. Vocalo.org will also conduct make-your-own-radio trainings. The mixer and the trainings are free to the public.

Guests can also meet other listeners and Chicago Public Radio and Vocalo.org hosts and personalities. Refreshments will be served.

Why: "The input and active participation of our listeners is integral to the sound and success of our broadcast," says general manager Wendy Turner. "Teaching our users how to participate and get their opinions and voices over the airwaves is a crucial part of our organization's mission to lift up voices typically underrepresented in media."

Who: Vocalo.org host producer Sarah Lu will be the evening's instructor.

When: The Geek Out will be held on Wednesday, August 26, from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m.

Vocalo.org will hold three mini-training sessions at 7:00 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Each session will last 20 minutes.
