Ex-radio DJ arrested on child porn charge
September 3, 2009 12:09 AM
A former part-time radio disc jockey who went by the name "Radio Boy" and last week pleaded guilty to soliciting a 13-year-old Carol Stream boy for sex now faces a charge of child pornography possession in Chicago, police said.
Following a search Wednesday by police of his South Loop condo, Michael Wawrzyniak, 24, faces a charge of possession of child pornography, according to police.
Details of the arrest by the Chicago Fugitive Apprehension Section and the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force, which took place sometime Wednesday after the search, were not available early today.
Wawrzyniak, of the 1700 block of South Michigan Avenue, was being held in the Central District lockup, and was expected to appear in bond court later today.
Wawrzyniak, who worked for 103.5 KISS-FM, was fired shortly after he was arrested in January 2008 by Carol Stream police. He faces up to 5 years in prison when sentenced later this year on a charge of indecent solicitation of a child in connection with soliciting a 13-year-old boy for sex.
Before the solicitation arrest last year, Wawrzyniak was a weekend disc jockey and did production work at KISS-FM. A spokesman for the station's owner, Clear Channel Radio-Chicago, said Wawrzyniak was terminated the day after his arrest.
