At the end of yesterday's show, host Jon 'The Coach' Cohn said that 'The Morning Break' may be ending. I hope that this is not true.

For over 8 years, this show has aired weekdays 10:00 AM-Noon on AM 1240 WSBC (simulcast with AM 1470 WCFJ Chicago Heights). The show does not seem to have much advertising (or none at all), which is actually a good thing for listeners. Instead they play contemporary music segments during commercial breaks. I'm not sure what the arrangement is with Newsweb (owner of WSBC/WCFJ), but I think that 'The Morning Break' may not be brokered like the foreign-language programming.

I wonder if a foreign-language programmer wants to move into the 10 AM-Noon timeslot? Seems like WSBC has more timeslots available--not less. The station has lost several clients recently:

1) Spanish show (La Raza newspaper) from 5:00 AM-7:00 AM weekdays hosted by Jose Lamas ended.

2) Russian show 'Norodnaya Volna' (People's Wave) cut the first hour of the show from 2:00 PM-3:00 PM weekdays.

3) Russian show 'Ekha Planetiy' (Echo of the Planet) cancelled their Saturday show from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM, but the weekday show from 7:00 AM-10:00 AM remains.

4) Russian show 'Narodnaya Volna' (People's Wave), 2:00 PM-4:00 PM weekdays, departs and moves show to another station AM 1430 WEEF Highland Park, now airing weekdays 3:30 PM-6:00 AM, Saturday 2:00 PM-6:00 AM, Sunday 3:00 PM-6:00 AM.

Does anybody know the reason why 'The Morning Break' may end?
