FM Tuner for iPhoneFM coming to the iPhone?

The circuitry is already there ("sleeping", as the 9to5Mac site says) and of course Apple broke the ice by dropping an FM into its new-generation iPod nano. This T-R-I Newsletter said when the nano-news hit that Apple sees a way to make money off the content with FM, and now Steve Jobs may have made the strategic decision to go further. The 9to5mac report by Seth Weintraub says "we've just received a report that an iPhone radio.app is being developed in-house by Apple for use on the iPhone and iPod touch." Why isn't it out already? Commerce. Weintraub says "Apple is trying to integrate the Mobile iTunes Store purchases into the functionality of the program." That's more of the iTunes tagging ability that could lead to significant dollars for stations - and Apple. Even better, the site says the novel "live pause" feature would be imported from the nano, something that radio should probably do more to promote, as it is. Putting FM receiver capability onto cell phones and other mobile devices will be a top priority for incoming NAB President/CEO Gordon Smith - and it's been a religious crusade for Jeff Smulyan at Emmis, who's been knocking on doors for many months now.
