WMAQ-Channel 5 has taken back official broadcast sponsor rights to the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.

Under a new three-year deal, the NBC-owned station will be providing television and Internet coverage of the event, slated this year for Oct. 12.

LaSalle Bank, previous host of the marathon, was acquired last fall by Bank of America. Channel 5 last aired the event in 2002. It since has been on Channel 2.
