WLS on 44 is still a construction permit, and they don't have the "license to cover' yet. At least that's what it looks like on fcc.gov, specifically: http://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/prod/cdbs/pubacc/Auth_Files/1335680.pdf

I don't believe there is a transition period for a DT to DT move, so this is a CP on 44 running alongside their authorization on 7. When 44 gets their authorization, then 7 will have to go off the air.

: WLS-DT began broadcasting on Channel 44 today. But the station is still also brodcasting in digital on Channel 7.

: Therefore, most viewers will receive two 7-1's, two 7-2's and two 7-3's.

: I can no longer receive low power WCHU-LD which had occupied Channel 44 (but displayed as 61-1 and 61-2), but I heard that WCHU-LD is still on the air on Channel 44. 61-1 was an affiliate of Spanish-language 'Azteca America', and 61-2 was a simulcast of sister station, analog Channel 6 WLFM-LP.

: I wonder how WLS-DT can get away with broadcasting in digital on both 7 and 44? Since the station made the move to 44 today, they should have to shut down 7. Channel 7 should be made available to someone else now as a new, full power allocation in the Chicago market.

: This is the second move for WLS-DT this year, which originally was on Channel 52.
