Studs Terkel, the Chicago broadcasting and literary legend who turns 96 today, will be feted with special programming throughout the day on Window to the World Communications' classical WFMT-FM (98.7).

A highlight will be Terkel's 1975 interview with Luciano Pavarotti, airing at 3 p.m.

Known as WFMT's "Free Spirit," Terkel hosted his daily interview show on the station from 1952 to 1997.
