Thanks everybody for the insight. From the posts I'm reading, it sounds like radio at this point in time is not the industry I want to be in, but I love sports talk and am extremely serious about this. I appreciate all the help and advice. I'm currently a Freshman at NIU. As a few people have said, I can earn credits for interning at a radio station, and from who I've spoken with, that is more hands on and a better experience than a broadcasting school. Maybe I'm thinking too big, but I would like to intern at one of the sports stations in town. Maybe ESPN, The Score or WGN. I've looked into their internship programs and think I can learn a lot about the business, and since this is something I've wanted to make a career of for a very long time, I'm thinking that may be the way to go.
