Brandmeier Appears To Be Out At The Loop
Report: Brandmeier To Leave Air At WLUP For Good Monday

CHICAGO (CBS2) ―

Longtime Loop 97.9 funnyman Jonathon Brandmeier is apparently out.

The Chicago Tribune reports contract negotiations broke down between Brandmeier and WLUP-FM. Brandmeier's biography was removed from the WLUP Web site after what would have been his shift.

Media columnist Robert Feder reported on vocalo.org that Brandmeier is leaving The Loop altogether and is not expected back on the air.

Brandmeier's most recent run at WLUP has been since 2005. He was also at the station from 1983 until 1997, and hosted a talk show from Los Angeles for the former WCKG-FM radio until 2001.

Brandmeier also recorded several albums, and became known for his novelty songs including, "We're All Crazy in Chicago," "The Moo-Moo Song," and "Hey Der Milwaukee Polka," some of which still receive airplay on the Dr. Demento Show. Brandmeier also had a late night television show, "Johnny B. on the Loose," in 1991.

Feder reported that WLS-AM and WGN-AM have expressed interest in Brandmeier recently.

Officials from WLUP parent company Emmis Communications have not returned calls for comment.
