The latest special about the epidemic of violence among Chicago youth airs this week on WLS-Channel 7.
News anchors Ron Magers and Cheryl Burton will host "Stop the Violence: Conflicts and Resolutions" in HD at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The commercial-free half-hour special will be rerun at 2 p.m. Saturday on the ABC-owned station.
Joining them will be reporters Charles Thomas, who'll visit with residents plagued by violence, and Paul Meincke, who'll report on law enforcement efforts.
Jennifer Graves, Channel 7 vice president and news director, said the series of specials was designed to initiate dialogue
throughout the community.
In the wake of news reports about young people dying, Graves added: "We wanted to provide a better format for the discussion
and exploration of the many factors that contribute to the serious violence problem."
