Gov. Quinn Declares Dec. 18th as "Pervis Spann Day" in Illinois

'The Blues Man' honored at public celebration, book signing at WVON

CHICAGO... On Friday, December 18th, WVON's President Emeritus Pervis Spann, "the Blues Man," will be honored by Illinois Governor Pat Quinn as Gov. Quinn declares "Pervis Spann Day" in the state of Illinois during The Cliff Kelley Show (airs Mon-Fri, 3-7pm) at WVON Studios, 1000 East 87th Street.

The on-air presentation will be at 3:45pm. Immediately following the presentation, there will be a free public celebration and Mr. Spann will be signing his book, 40 Year Spann of WVON in WVON's Legacy Center, 1000 East 87th Street from 4-8pm. Copies of the book will be sold.

There will be special guests, live entertainment by some of Chicago's top blues artists, including Nellie "Tiger" Travis, and light refreshments prepared by Catering by Reggie Carter. This tribute is coordinated by Strategic Event Solutions.
