The Illinois Chapter of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association have voted.. and the winner.. of the Illinois Sportswriter of the Year for 2009 goes to... The Sun-Times' Rick Telander and the Peoria Journal Star's Dave Reynolds. (The voting ended in a tie this year)

This is the sixth time that Rick Telander has won the prestigious award. He previously won each year from 2003-2007. It is Telander's second time sharing the award - in 2006, the vote also ended in a tie.

It is Dave Reynolds first time winning.
