Mike North announced Thursday that his new ChicagoSportsWebio.com Internet sports-talk radio venture will launch April 6 and that its backers expect it to be profitable in the first year.

In addition to the weekday lineup revealed earlier this week - starting with a simulcast of North and Dan Jiggetts' "Monsters in the Morning" TV show on Comcast SportsNet Chicago, followed by hosts Jonathan Hood and Chet Coppock, but not Teddy Greenstein, as previously reported - North announced Thursday that George Ofman will leave WSCR 670-AM to be a field reporter with the new Internet station, and Ron Kittle will be the baseball analyst, along with Doug Glanville, whose deal is still being finalized.

Greenstein suddenly got the kibosh Thursday from his editors at the Chicago Tribune, after they had originally given him the OK; North and Program Director Jesse Rogers will look for a replacement host.

"My editors felt that the time commitment required to prepare for and do a 10-hour-a-week show would be too great," Greenstein said.

David Hernandez will run the station as part of his Spectrum Entertainment Group from studios in Morton Grove. Despite the huge outlay to sign talent for the venture, Hernandez insists the station will soon make money.

"Knowing the dynamics of how the Score evolved," he said, the Internet venture will make "a profit in the first year."

Stating that the station has "a better startup than we had at the Score," North added, "The model we put together here is a no-brainer."

Some skeptics in the media, especially the broadcast sports-talk-radio competition, will read that differently from others.

The April 6 premiere was planned to take advantage of baseball's Opening Day, the NCAA Finals and the Masters golf tournament.
